The Puppy and the Well Story

The Puppy and the Well is a short moral story for kids about a curious puppy who learns to listen to his mother. Read this heartwarming tale that teaches children the importance of obeying parents and staying safe.

Once upon a time, there lived a little puppy with his mother. They lived happily near a small cottage. The puppy was playful and curious about everything around him. Near their home, there was an old well. Whenever the puppy ran to play nearby, his mother warned him kindly,

“Don’t go near the well, my dear. It’s dangerous,”
she said.

The puppy nodded and promised to listen, but deep inside, he always wondered what was inside that well. One sunny day, when his mother went out to find food, the puppy’s curiosity grew too strong. He trotted to the well and peeked inside.

To his surprise, he saw another puppy looking back at him from the water!
He tilted his head — and the other puppy did the same.
He wagged his tail — and the other puppy wagged too!

“Hey! Why are you copying me?” the puppy barked.
He barked louder, and the “other puppy” barked back just as loud.

The little puppy got angry.
“I’ll teach you a lesson!” he growled and jumped into the well — splash!

But there was no other puppy there. It was only his reflection in the water.
He didn’t know how to swim and began to cry for help.

Just then, his mother heard his cries. She ran quickly to the well and pulled her little puppy out.
He was shivering and scared. His mother hugged him tightly and said gently,

“That’s why I told you not to go near the well. I love you and I only want to keep you safe.”

The puppy felt sorry and whispered,

“I’m sorry, Mom. I’ll always listen to you from now on.”

Since that day, the little puppy never went near the well again — but he never forgot the lesson he learned.

Moral: We should always listen to our parents, because they care for us and want to keep us safe.
