The King and the Shoe Story
A wise queen teaches the king an important lesson: instead of changing the world, change yourself. A short moral story about wisdom and self-improvement.
There once was a king who ruled a wealthy country. One day, he wanted to visit every corner of his country. He went to every distant village and town. When he returned to his palace, he complained about the roads because his feet were in pain due to the rocky roads. Therefore, the king ordered his men to cover every road in the country with soft leather.
Covering every road with leather would require a lot of cow skin. Thus, to execute this, a lot of money would be spent.
Then, the queen said to the king, “Why are you going to spend so much money on this? You can just cut a piece of leather and cover your own feet with it instead of covering each road.”
This suggestion surprised the king, but he thought the queen was right and made a pair of shoes for himself.
Moral: We can’t change the world, but we can change ourselves.
